An appeal to Yashua, deliver me!

Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise. Jeremiah 17:14 NKJV.

Save, yasha’ Strong’s # 3467: To rescue, save, defend; to free, preserve, avenge, deliver, help. A very powerful verb used over 200 times in OT, yasha’ is a one-word description of God’s response to the needs of humanity.

God chose a form of this verb to be His Son’s name: Yeshua, meaning “He shall save.” Matthew 1:21 says, And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins.

The original thought of yasha’ was “to release,” “to open wide.” Our Deliverer is the One who opened wide the gates of captivity, released and rescue us, and continually defends and preserves us.

In our text, Jeremiah 17:14-18 is the fourth personal lament of six such laments. Jeremiah feels dejected because of his opponent’s taunts, and prays for healing. The six laments of Jeremiah: Jeremiah 11:18-23; 12:1-6; 15:10-21; 17:14-18; 18:18-23;20:7-18.
