Intimacy with God

What is Intimacy?
It has been said that intimacy could best be described as IN TO ME SEE, it’s allowing God to look into our heart and allowing us to look into His! Wow! Imagine that, looking into the very heart of God, seeing what He sees. In intimacy we become one with the Holy Spirit and our desires match that of our creator. The call of the Holy Spirit is KNOW ME!
This is Eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent-John 17:3.
Daniel 11:32 but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
Hos 6:3- Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know Him! Then He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming rains in early spring.
Teach me Your ways that I may know You and continue in Your favor. Exodus 33:13.
“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and My Servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me.” Isaiah 43:10.
A practical example of intimacy. Exodus 33:18—And he said, “Please, show me your glory. Moses’ passionate plea to see God’s glory is one of the most intimate encounters between a man and God ever recorded.
His request is not for a display of God’s power or even the warmth of His presence, but he hungered for something more: Moses wanted an intimate knowledge of God Himself!
That is why God hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and manifested His glory, so Moses was not only exposed to the light of divine afterglow, but enraptured by the fullness of His Person—His character; the One who is compassionate, gracious, and just (34:6, 7). Read it.
Yes, Moses had received God’s promises (Vs.2) seen God’s power, and been guaranteed God’s presence (Vs. 14). But Moses wanted God’s person —-the only reality that will ever evoke a lasting sense of wonder and fulfill with lasting satisfaction.
Steps to Intimacy. John 17:20-26. Intimacy means connection from the innermost areas.
Five tests of Intimacy:
1. I know I am intimate with the Lord when…I fearlessly worship Him. Worship = a lack of self-awareness in God’s presence. 1. Expressed love 2. Sacrifice 3. confession 4. Surrender
2. I instinctively understand His heart. Because I spend time in the Word. Because I spend time in prayer.
3. I honestly communicate with Him. About my sins, about my needs, about my doubts.
4. I selflessly pursue His priorities. 1. Worship 2. Evangelism 3. Fellowship 4. Discipleship 5. Service.
5. I constantly experience His…presence “Lo, I am with You always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matt. 28:20
Commitment brings connection John 17:21, Baptism -1st step of obedience in following the Lord –Fellowship –connected to the Lord’s people. Ministry—give to others what you’ve been given.
Involvement in the Big Picture vs.23: Two goals: Maturity –Outreach.
Allow God to love you Vs.26.
Spirituality is not about competency; it is about intimacy. Spirituality is not about perfection; it is about connection.
The way of the spiritual life begins where we are now in the mess of our lives. Accepting the reality of our broken flawed lives is the beginning of spirituality, not because the spiritual life will remove our flaws, but because we let go of seeking perfection and instead seek God, the one who is present in the tangeledness of our lives.
Make God’s Dream come true. In the garden of Eden God showed His desire to walk with man and to have intimacy with him! Through Jesus we have the same opportunity as Adam did!
To walk with God in the cool of the evening. So in closing, it’s time to seek the Lord and let Him into me see.
There is no substitute or shortcut to gain the measure of God you desire in your life. Time before God in His presence releases the store house of heaven that is full of blessings and opens the flood gate of revelation you desire.
Intimacy with the living God is the hallmark of every great man or women of God. Time in His courts help us understand the complexities of life, and give meaning to every situation we find our self in. You can make God’s dream come true!
