Paul, an example of one who was gung-ho.

They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do. Galatians 2:9, 10 NKJV.

Eager, spoudazo, Strong’s # 4704—to exert oneself, make every effort, give diligence, make haste, and further the cause diligently. Spoudazo combines thinking and acting, planning and producing.

It sees a need and promptly does something about it. The word covers inception, action, and follow through. The believers in Jerusalem were known to be poor (Romans 15:26).
