Are We Zealous for Goodness and Truth?

final nt word As Christian Americans are we honestly walking in the goodness of God according to the Scriptures?Goodness, according to The NT is not some goody two shoes way of life expressed in Mr/Mrs/Ms Mellow who is politically correct in all his ways. let’s see what the Scriptures say.

Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. Romans 15:14 NKJV.

Goodness, Agathosune; Strong’s # 19-active goodness as referred to in this verse. In English the word is inclusive of particular graces whereas Paul must refer to a particular grace. It is more than Chrestotes(5544 Rom.2:4), a mellowing of character. It is character energized expressing itself in Agathon(18) active good.

Agathosune is actively stronger than chrestotes, agathosune is enegrizingchrestotes. A person may display his agthosune, his zeal for goodness and truth in rebuking, correcting, chastising. Is this true today in most church’s? Absolutly not!

Jesus’ righteous indignation in the temple (Matt. 21:13) showed His agathosune, but not His chrestotes, mellowness. Agathosune does not spare sharpness and rebuke to cause good, agathon, in others whereas chrestotes demonstrates only its softness and benevolence. So, what do you think?
