How long is Ever?

For all people walk each in the name of his god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God Forever and ever. Micah 4:5 NKJV. godofthisworld

Walking in the name of one’s god indicates identification with that deity (John 14:30). Because human beings are dependent, they take on their deity’s manners and are unashamed to have their name associated with him or her as followers. The faithful boldly assert that the only true God is their God, the Lord (Yahweh).

Ever, ‘ad, Strong’s # 5703- Everlastingness, perpetuity; eternity, evermore, forever; time passing on and on; world without end; for all time forward; continually. First mentioned in Exodus 15:18: “The Lord shall reign forever and ever” (compare Ps. 10:16; Isa. 45:17).

God dwells eternally in Zion (Ps.132:14). God inhabits “eternity” (Isa.57:15). In our text Micah 4:5, Israel vows that they will own Him as their God Le’Olam Ve’Ad, forever and forever.

In Psalm 132:11, 12 ‘ad describes the length of time that the throne of David shall be occupied by his royal seed: “forevermore.” In Isaiah 9:6, Messiah is called “Everlasting Father,” which is in Hebrew,  ‘Abi-Ad, literally “Father of Eternity,” that is, the architect, builder, begetter, producer, and creator of the ages to come.

This word makes me think of the Hallelujah Chorus which I’ve had the privilege to sing the Bass part in several times.

And how cool is that term “Father of Eternity?” Love that description in your last sentence.

    God’s blessings my friend…
