The Unrighteous Will Not Inherit the Kingdom of God

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor (1) homosexuals, nor (2) sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you, but you were washed, but you were sanctified (set apart), but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Cor. 6:9-11.

Covetous, pleonektes, Strong’s # 4123: Literally “to have more.” The word regresses from good too bad. Pleon is the basic word for more in quantity, quality and number. Pleonazo means to do more, make more, or increase. Pleonekteo means to overreach.

Pleonexia is avarice (insatiable or excessive desire to crave). Pleonektes means a greedy covetousness so eager for gain that it will defraud others. A person consumed with pleonektes will violate laws for unlawful gain. He will cunningly forge ahead at others expense. Ephesians 5:3 tells us covetousness is idolatry. Idolatry is an aggravated form of self-love motivated by ego-drive.

Here are “gospel” words for any whose past has involved any lifestyle of moral degradation or depravity: “And such were some of you.” The Word of God speaks for itself, here spoken by the Apostle Paul. The above reference is to moral degradation or depravity please read it for yourself. But upon repentance the most dehumanizing, shame inducing, and memory –riddling sins are not only covered through the washing of Christ’s blood, but a totally new stance before God is given.

In Christ, not only are we “sanctified” (declared completely the Lord’s property) and “Justified” (declared completely not guilty of any past record), but have a new designation. We are now regarded as “Chaste virgin” in the eyes of Christ. 2 Cor.11:2.

My reference: (1) homosexuals- Strong’s # 3120 is rendered as catamites: a boy kept by a pederast.

(2) Sodomites, Strong’s # 733, an abuser of themselves with mankind. Pederast is defined as one who practices anal intercourse especially with a boy.

I realize these are offensive terms to some, who place so called “love” don’t judge my sin,  that will not speak in God’s love (Ephesians 4:15) to issues of our day. Sin is sin. The God spoken of and about throughout the Bible is first and foremost a Holy God. When was the last time you heard someone say, “Love, Love, love about God? How about Holy, holy, holy! Isaiah 6, by the way the whole earth is not full of His Glory.

Love that coddles sin for the sake of unity and peace is an abomination to God. I for one am taken back by the wholesale abandonment of so called Christians who think and act like the Word of God is “Just fill in the blanks because after all He is invisible.” God is not mocked, what so ever a man sows he will reap!

P.S. God’s mercy leads us to repentance.

Whenever the question of homosexuality comes up, this is the verse I refer to.

You have only made the word more serious than I previously thought, Manny.

I’ve always found it interesting that covetousness was included in the list. Imagine a world without it. Our world would have half (I may be exaggerating a bit) of the problems if the big “C” disappeared overnight.

That’s not going to happen until there is a new heaven and a new earth.

Thanks for another very instructive post my friend…

    Love it Manny.

    Bold statements.

We read this verse in Church at youth night this past Sunday… As the preacher mentioned some of the things you mentioned here, someone messaged me to ask if we really are broadcasting this sermon. This person was concerned that someone could come after the preacher for saying that those who practice alternative lifestyles will go to hell if they do not repent.

In the future we may be banned from preaching such passages, and we may have to do it in secret. I may be slightly pessimistic, but it is within the realm of possibility here in the US.

The next 10-15 years will be interesting.

Delight, I feel the same way about our future. I have had to be quite about many things that have troubled me for years in regard to our future as Christians. I have always been bothered with the milk-toast stance of the church. I am praying about writing about things i have seen recently that are very troubling. I think it is great that your Pastor speaks what needs to be said. God bless him and those who hear his message.

The church needs to wake up before it’s too late. i can remember our Lord placing me in situations that made me stand my ground and listen and obey from my heart. Their were times when my knees were knocking and my spine would quiver. i grew in those times and will always be grateful for the opportunities given me and lessons learned. i am concerned our young folks may not have the time or opportunity for the same lessons. i have shared how I feel the future church will not be what it is today, we will be forced to go underground. I always reflect upon the church that is the largest in the world. Not many speak about it because it is living in the tombs like the persecuted church under Rome.
I am speaking about the church in China, it is the largest bar none. True believers are there in the millions, but scattered and very discerning. They have to be.
They are very strong and very resourceful but well hidden. It is a warning for us, the degradation will increase and persecution will increase. We have our Lords promise, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
