Repentance Brings Revival

revival final

Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give to me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal (wasteful) living…” Luke 15:11-24 NKJV.

God allows u turns

This story of loss, repentance, and restoration reveals what is true repentance and the Father’s heart towards it. …God’s mercy leads us to repentance. Romans 2:4.Repentance involves: realizing the need to turn from the direction we have been following (Vs.17), making a decision to return to the Father’s house to ask for forgiveness (Vs.20, 21) and receiving face-to-face relationship with the Father (vs.22-24).

A word here about the noun mercy: it is the outward manifestation of pity; it assumes need on the part of him who receives it, and resources adequate to meet the need on the part of him who shows it. It is used here of a father to his son; and of God, who is rich in mercy, Eph.2:4 and also “The Father of Mercies,” 2 Cor.1:3.

As we genuinely repent and are restored to God, the kingdom of heaven is released through us (Matt. 4:17) and revival is released among us (2 Chronicles 7:14; Acts 2:38-41).

Tomorrow: Purpose of Revival.

“God’s mercy leads us to repentance.”

This is a wonderful truth that needs to be shared with the entire world. Paul and John gave us many words on the subject. You have given us several examples from the two great Apostles, Manny.

A youth group I once worked with did a play about the Prodigal Son. It was the Isaac Air Freight version. It was an entertaining and humorous production with a Western theme. It helped the youth to understand God’s mercy and made the audience laugh at the same time.

Repentance leads to revival. It is an idea that is communicated throughout the Old and New Testaments.

“The Father of Mercies” wishes for us to come to Him.

    God’s blessings my friend….

Visual aids as in the play you mentioned are an excellent way to communicate God’s truths and be light hearted at the same time. Awesome.

I am recently studying mercy and grace as attributes of God. When you think of these as communicable attributes, that is attributes that can be displayed in our lives, you begin to realize what a great calling we have, beyond the calling of salvation, a calling to represent God in our society.
