Visions are the very best videos featuring HDMI and Surround Sound you will ever See.

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw vision of God. Ezekiel 1:1.

When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. Matthew 3:16. (emphasis mine). Our Lord Jesus saw the heavens opened as well as the Prophet Ezekiel point being they were awake.

Vision, chazon, Strong’s #2377 OT:  A supernatural presentation of certain scenery or circumstances to the mind of a person while awake. A prophetic vision, dream, oracle, revelation; especially the kind of revelation that comes through sight, namely a vision from God.

Vision, horama, Strong’s #3705 NT: To see behold. A spectacle, that which is seen. Used of supernatural appearance, a vision. Visions reveal God’s nature (Gen.15:1). We can talk back and forth with our Lord in the vision, Gen.15:2 along with Acts 9:10-16, (emphasis on verse 16-show) “For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

One of the most breathtaking experiences comes to from Moses’ account in Exodus 3:1-6. Another definition given for Vision #3705 “That which is seen, a sight, spectacle, a sight divinely granted in ecstasy.” Acts 7:31.What is the definition of ecstasy? a state of consciousness characterized by expanded spiritual awareness, visions or absolute euphoria. A state of overwhelming emotion-especially rapturous delight.  A mystic or prophetic trance Acts 10:17,19. This is the only ecstasy that is proper and fulfilling, the exact opposite of the synthetic drug called ecstasy (MDMA).lord appereared to abram

Here are some Scriptures that show the place visions played in the Apostle Paul’s experience: Acts 7:56-8:1; 9:1-16; 13:2-4; 14:19; 16:9,10; 18:9-11; 22:17,18; 27:22-25; 2 Cor.12:1-4; Gal.1:11, 12; 2:2; Eph.3:1-5.

So are visions limited to the apostles and prophets as the Cessationists believe or is the Continuationists view point valid? Let’s talk.

So many different names for visions, but the same God. This is a semi-extensive study, Manny. Lots of references. Well done!

I’m pretty sure I know where you are going with the question at the end of this post. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s vision study.

    God’s blessings my friend…

I think vision and dreams are within biblical scope for us today. I have never experienced an awake vision, but I am convinced that I had dreams from God.

Everyone of these supernatural experiences needs to measure up to the Bible I think, and the content of the vision and dream must be in line with what we know about God from the Bible.

I am usually very careful when claims are made that people saw God, or Jesus specifically, sat down to dinner, hugged, talked about silly things with the Creator, etc… We have certain examples in the Bible, like those of ap John, Paul and Isaiah to mention a few, who actually saw God in their visions/experiences and some of them felt like they nearly died when they saw Jesus.

Manny, how do you react when someone claims they saw God?

      Delight,
For the most part I have been skeptical. As you mention people relating an experience of sitting down, hugged etc. I look to whether it speaks as you say from the Word of God and confirms how or why a dream or vision is given. In this series it has been my intent to speak on dreams and visions so as to show the purpose the Bible shows and to encourage open dialog. A dose of skepticism is always healthy.

For example in our day and age many have shared dreams and visions but to what end? Some so-called ministries promote their own agenda as being totally God ordered yet they fail in one or many points to align themselves with what God has put forth in His Word. Do we or are we to always run to this person or that person for understanding as to what God (hopefully) has said to us in a dream or a vision? We are privileged to ask the person of the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of truth “is it so Lord?”

Well I take exception to Paul’s experience after his conversion 2 cor.12:2.He went to the third heaven and did not die. I believe in the third heaven we see God. But let me very clear, It is only by God’s granting such a privilege that this may happen. Paul came back with many things to say to the body of Christ not to merely boast in his ministry.

A secondary reason is to show that what happened then can and does happen now, there are no second class citizens in the kingdom, just folks with different levels of responsibility.

I do not want to spoil the broth before as many points that need to be brought out are shared. So please continue to speak at this important series.
