Seek Him, the one who has pledged Himself with covenant faithfulness to respond.

But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. Matthew 6:33 Amplified Bible.

Seek, zeteo, Strong’s # 2212: To search earnestly, to look for something or someone. Try to discover, of seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness, in the sense of coveting earnestly, striving after Him.

Interestingly enough there are 5 words that can be used in seek.

  • Zeteo, to seek, as in Matt. 7:7.
  • Anazeteo, to seek carefully, difficultly being implied as in Luke 2:44,45.
  • Ekzeteo, to seek out, or after, diligently. Heb.12:17.
  • Epizeteo, sought or desired. Acts 13:7.
  • Orego, to reach out, or after. 1 Tim. 3:1.

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth: for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

“Ask and ye shall receive.” Thank you so much, Manny, for answering my request.

Now I know that zeteo is the Greek word for the “seek” in the verse that has been one of my favorites since I was a teenager.

Thanks, also, for sharing the other words for “seek.”

    God’s blessings…
