The Spirit of God is our Earnest Deposit.

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. 2 Cor. 1:20-22.

Guarantee, arrabon; Strong’s #728. A business term that speaks of earnest money, a part of the purchase price paid in advance as a down payment. Arrabon is the up-front deposit that guarantees full possession when the whole is paid later. Some descriptions speak of this transaction as “caution money,” “a pledge,” “a deposit,” “a guarantee. “

The word sealed is significant in that it intimates the special interest of the Sealer in His act.

Arrabon describes the person of the Holy Spirit as the pledge of God’s commitment to complete His work in us (2 Cor. 5:5; Eph. 1:13, 14; Rom. 8:23), thus confirming the Yes that is in Jesus (vs.20) and our future joys and bliss in heaven. The Holy Spirit gives us a taste or guarantee of things to come.

What a great promise from God! Along with the guarantee, the Holy Spirit gives us the fruits of His presence. As I am getting older, I’m seeing more of these fruits. I’ve got so much more to learn.

    God’s blessings, Manny…

We are blessed people. He is the very best in our lives for sure. There is always something to be learned if we will submit to Him.
