The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way.

Say to the king and to the queen mother, “Humble yourselves; sit down, for your rule shall collapse, the crown of your glory.” Jeremiah 13:18.

Humble, shaphel; Strong’s #8213.  To make low, depress, sink, lower, debase, set in a lower place, lay low, descend, humble. Generally translated “Humble,” or “bring down.”

fall before Jesus

Shaphel is illustrated for us: The proud looks of man shall be humbled, the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. Isaiah 2:11;   People shall be brought down, each man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the proud shall be humbled. Isaiah 5:15.

Psalm 113:5,6 says, “Who is like the Lord our God, who dwells on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in the heavens and in the earth?” Here is a snap shot of Almighty God who humbles Himself. The marvelous condescension of God goes beyond beholding, and unfolds further in the incarnation and crucifixion of Jesus (Phil. 2:5-8). Deist’s love to postulate God’s aloofness, herein these verses Deism is dealt a mortal blow.

    Luke 14:11 says:

“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The verses you have quoted from Psalm 113 tells us that the humblest was not created.

    Great nugget, Manny.
