Jesus Nailed It!

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the certificate of debt with its requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:13-15.

Cross sins

Wiped out, exaleipho; Strong’s # 1813. A combination of two words, ek, “out,” and aleipho, “to anoint”; meaning to wipe out, wipe off, wash. Used metaphorically, the word signifies a removal or obliteration, whether of sins (Acts.3:19), of writing (Col.2:14), of a name (Rev. 3:5), or of tears (Rev. 21:4).

All praise, honor, and glory to Jesus Christ’s crushing defeat over sin and evil powers that He accomplished in “it” —-that is, in the Cross. Our present text plus (Eph. 2:13-16; Gal. 3:13, 14; 2Cor. 5:14-17; Rom. 5:6-15; and Rev. 12:10,11), establish beyond doubt Jesus’ suffering, shed blood, sacrificial death, and resurrection triumph.

Jesus nailed it! Jesus gave the only adequate and available grounds for our ransom from sin, our reconciliation to God, buying us out of the market place of sin and slavery, and restoring a proper relationship with the Father.  The Cross of Christ is the only hope and means for the lost. Have you knelt at the Cross of Christ, died to self, and come away with your certificate of debt wiped out?

And I think Manny has nailed it here himself.
