Are we awake, sensitive, alert, and prepared?

You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:5-9.

Salvation

Salvation, soteria-Strong’s #4991. Is all-inclusive it meets all our needs such as deliverance, preservation, soundness, prosperity, happiness, rescue, general well-being. The word is used both in a material, temporal sense and in a spiritual, eternal sense.

The NT especially uses the word for spiritual well-being. Salvation is a present possession (Luke 1;77; 2 Cor. 1:6; 7:10) with a fuller realization in the future (Rom. 13:11; 1 Thess. 5:8,9).

And Jesus said to him (Zacchaeus ), “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19;9-10.

How I would have loved to have been at Zacchaeus’ house on that day!

“Salvation is a present possession with a fuller realization in the future.”

What a breath of fresh air in an often stifling world!!!

    God’s blessings, Manny.
