“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer (day star), son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.” Isaiah 14:12-14.
Satan was once an angel called Lucifer, who in love with his own beauty, fell into pride and self-centeredness. In these Scriptures we have his rebellion manifesting itself against God. At the height of his utterances, he declares he will take the place of the Most High God. In verses 15-20 God makes His responses quite clear.
“Satan, you will:
- Be thrown into hell;
- Be gazed upon (that is, made a spectacle);
- Be talked about (mocked, scorned);
- Be cast out of your grave like a carcass;
- Be alone.”
Lucifer means “Light Bearer.” The basic sin was that of unchecked personal ambition, desiring to be equal to or above God. Very similar to cultists and others who claim they will be as gods and some who claim they are gods.

We have a deceptive enemy. These very verses are covered in a post about the Word of Faith Movement in a recent post on my blog. Anyone who wishes may see it here:

Yes, I agree. The heresy continues unchecked. I highly recommend the video posted on Chris Reimers blog: Winds of the Wind.
