Offense-A Major Hindrance to Revival.

“A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, and contentions are like bars of a castle.” Proverbs 18:19.

Offenses (unresolved bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness in broken relationships) grieve the Holy Spirit and undermine the unity and prayer vital to revival. When the Holy Spirit id grieved, the flow from Him to us in His power, counsel, and comfort is hampered, and the enemy is given opportunity to accuse, torment, imprison, and ultimately defeat us.

We are bound up due to a sin of the flesh (Gal.5:22) and this blocks our ability to give or receive God’s mercy because our relationship with Him is compromised, therefore the church is prevented from presenting the glory of God to a community.

We need to repent of our offenses to God first, and then make things right with others (Matt.5:23, 24.).  Having dealt with our offenses we can once again live in the power of an “ungrieved” Holy Spirit who extends mercy to us having unlocked our handcuffs of anger and bitterness. Doing so brings the expectation of continual revival, abounding in the grace of His forgiveness, mercy, and kindness.
