Gradual Revelation, The Divine Plan.

Gradual Revelation, The Divine Plan.

For many of us who have not only received Jesus as our savior but have sought to seek Him at His word and are experiencing “Christ formed in us” Truth is progressive. It is daily application of the work of the author and finisher of our salvation.

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are my disciples indeed, and shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31,32.  Alright as good miners setting out daily to discover the rich vein of gold set before us in the Word of God let’s dig in.

In our English word know, a rich deposit awaits us in our digging. Know #1097(Strong’s) is ginosko which is given to us to understand, perceive, recognize, gain knowledge that has an inception, a progress, and attainment. The unsearchable riches of Christ come to us in our obedience in yielding to the presence of the Holy Spirit. It is the recognition of truth by personal experience.

In verse 32 we have the word make which is Strong’s #1659. The word designates a setting free and being delivered from the dominion of sin. Make also gives us the present progressive application of truth. Again, this is to emphasize the divine plan of God in our lives, it is progressive by design. But let’s remember, just because I know truth does not mean I am applying it in my life. Growth brings revelation and maturity.

Jesus spoke to His disciples these words “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.” “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” John 16:12,13. Thanks be to God, that the Holy Spirit also fulfills that work in granting believers today an understanding of the truth.

I am hoping to continue this theme with some examples of divine revelation as it played out in the lives of the disciples. Which we know are given to help us grow and walk in the truth.

Excellent, Manny. You have described my experience as a Christian. “If you abide in My word…” It is such an important thing.

    God’s blessings…
