Are you In?

The Swiss Alps are majestic as seen from a seat at 39,000 feet in an airliner or looking out the window of a Swiss chalet. This same loftiness, rarefied air, and majesty are presented to us in the Epistle to the Ephesians.

This breath taking experience begins in the very first verse with one small word that if observed, if it is mined as a nugget from the Word of God brings that loftiness down to build upon the foundation of our salvation as solidly as the earth under the Alps.

What is this word?  In Greek, “èν” in English our word “In.”  Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are Ephesus, and to the faithful èν Christ Jesus. Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings enheavenly places  “èν” Christ. Ephesians 1:1-3.

The recurrent theme “In Christ” sums up the Christian’s position, as having been given “every spiritual blessing.” How or where? In Christ.

My lexicon sums up “èν” this way. In general as being or resting in, within or among. As to being, or remaining within, with primary idea of rest in any place or thing. Of place, in, within, among. Of time, on, upon. This word is used 25 times in the KJV in a chapter that has 23 verses.

As a word study this word if highlighted, meditated on and reflected upon verse by verse with the Holy Spirit’s help will surly blast you into the heavenlies. Each verse builds upon being or abiding in Jesus.

The Apostle John in chapter 5 says: And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are “” him that is true, even “èν” his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 1John 20.

For in him we live, and move, and have our being…
