His Workmanship

Word Study:    Workmanship

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves :it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.  Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV

Workmanship…Poiema.   From the verb poieo, “to make.” The emphasis is that which is manufactured, a product, a design produced by an artisan. Poiema emphasizes God as the Master designer, the universe as His creation (Rom. 1:20), and the redeemed believer as His new creation (Eph. 2:10). We are His masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Before Christ was formed in our garden it was overrun with weeds. We were one sorry mess. Christ in us brought peace.  At His leading we found a balance we never knew, His presence in us will bring out symmetry and order. We are God’s poem, His work of art. We are God’s workmanship to do His good works.

God has saved us to serve. Let your light so shine before men, (Cracked-Pot) that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matt. 5:16

We are His love poem. His is emphatic. His workmanship are we.

    Hi Manny.

God’s word is truly amazing. I marvel at sections like Eph. 2. Here you have the explanation of how man is saved in verses 8 and 9. And then verse 10 tells us that we were created to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. It is an great section of scripture. We are not saved by our works, but God created us for good works. Only God’s word can balance the two points beautifully in three verses.

Enjoy the new blog very much.

Thank you for the kind comments. We are so blessed to have the Word as well as the author of it dwelling within. What a tremendous blessing that is. Take care…let His light shine through your cracked earthen vessel. Blessings
